The Conservation Colorado family of organizations comprises six separate entities, each of which bring different tools to the work and allow us to move our state forward in different impactful ways.
This Privacy Notice describes how the Conservation Colorado family of organizations — including Conservation Colorado, the Conservation Colorado Education Fund, Conservation Colorado Action Fund, Conservation Colorado Action Fund — Small Donor Committee, Conservation Colorado Grassroots Action Fund, and Conservation Colorado Victory Fund (referred to collectively here as “the Organization”), collects, uses, disclose and safeguard your personal information with respect to your use of their websites, use any of our services, attend any of our events, volunteer or apply for a job with us, or make a donation to us. We may revise this Privacy Notice periodically and will let you know of any changes by posting a revised Notice on our website with a new effective date.
Information We Collect
- Personal or individual identifiers. We may collect information that identifies you directly, such as name, mailing address, email address, phone number, demographic information, bank account number, credit card number, debit card number, signature, IP and MAC address, and professional/employment-related information (when applying for a job or volunteering or as required for reporting purposes). Requests to remain anonymous shall be honored to the extent permitted by law.
- Information concerning how you heard about the Organization.
- Information you wish to share such as questions, comments, suggestions.
- Internet or device activity. Information regarding how you interact with the Organization’s website (including, potentially, browsing history), advertisements, devices and device identifiers, browser information, device ID, IP and MAC address or information that could be derived from it, and/or preferences you may have for how we communicate with you. The Organization and authorized third parties with whom we contract may use technologies to automatically receive and record information when you interact with us online on our websites and/or through other digital technologies, such as email platforms, mobile applications, or over the phone. These technologies allow us to improve our digital services, create a better experience for our users, and protect against fraud.
- Audio or visual data. We may collect your image or voice, which may be captured when you attend an in-person or virtual event or activity, visit our offices, or leave us a voicemail.
- Other Information. We collect feedback or information you provide to us, such as in answers to surveys and questionnaires.
- Inferences from collected data. We may draw inferences about you based on the data we have collected.
- Information from cookies and similar technologies. We use cookies, pixels, web beacons, and other technologies to analyze our site usage, enhance our website, engage with potential supporters of our mission, and to enable certain services.
- Information from Third-Party Sources. We may also collect information about you from additional online and offline sources including from social media activities, partner organizations, commercially available third-party sources, and other publicly available sources. We may combine this information with the personal and other information we have collected about you.
How We Use Personal Data
- Ensure we are able to contact you and to manage our relationship, such as by responding to your inquiries, acknowledging your donations, informing you of upcoming fundraising or other activities of the Organization, keeping you up to date on our activities via announcements, reports, and newsletters, or provide you with employment or volunteer information;
- Process donations and purchase transactions (Note that all access to donor financial information is strictly limited to professional staff who need to process those data. The Organization does not store, nor does it have access to your credit card information, bank account numbers, or other account data sent to those processing services.);
- Prevent and protect against fraud and other risks, and to ensure the security of the Organization’s website and systems;
- Provide you the information, services, or opportunities you request;
- Perform analytics concerning your use of our website;
- Provide you tailored content and marketing messages, including fundraising and other Organizational messaging;
- Operate, evaluate, and improve our programs and services and campaigns; conduct surveys and questionnaires; perform data analytics, accounting, auditing, recordkeeping and other internal functions;
- Support the growth of our volunteer community and financial donor base, including through targeted fundraising activities;
- Report to relevant U.S. and State agencies (these reports are generally not for public inspection; however, donor information is available for Conservation Colorado and Conservation Colorado Education Fund as required by law);
- Share information with relevant U.S. and State agencies to whom you have opted to submit formal public comment;
- Comply with applicable legal requirements, contractual obligations, and our policies;
- Perform our contractual obligations, and for any other purposes that you consent to, or that we may specifically disclose at the time you provide or we collect your information.
Sharing of Personal Data
We may share your information with contracted vendors, third parties, and other service providers for the purpose of supporting our activities and programs. For example, we may share information with vendors that help us manage donor data and mailing lists, process donations and credit card payments, and manage communications.
We may share your personal information with third parties to serve targeted promotions or efforts at engagement and outreach to specific individuals, including you, or to display ads to people who are similar to specific individuals who have engaged with the Organization in the past. As a result, we may display targeted information, promotions, and other engagement or outreach materials to you outside of our website on third-party websites, and social media sites, such as Facebook, to fundraise and build support for our mission.
We also disclose information as required by law, such as to comply with applicable law or respond to valid legal process, including from law enforcement or other government agencies. We may also disclose information to conduct litigation; in an emergency, to protect the Organization’s legal rights or to prevent physical harm to its staff, visitors or the public; to prevent, detect, investigate or remediate fraud, security or privacy issues; to enforce our agreements, terms, and policies.
In the event of an acquisition, dissolution, bankruptcy, or reorganization of any Organization entity, sale of our assets or any diligence relating thereto, your information may be sold or transferred to another organization as permitted by law, contract, or as a standalone asset.

We also have the right to take into account the interests of others in responding to any request. We may charge a reasonable fee for processing if your request is clearly unfounded, repetitive, or excessive. If we determine your request warrants a fee, we will notify you of the fee and explain that decision before completing your request.
If you exercise one of your privacy rights and we are unable to process your request, we will provide you with an explanation as to why the request was denied. Depending on your state of residence, the explanation will include information on how to appeal, including the relevant regulatory authorities, as applicable.
Opting In and Opting Out of CC Mobile Communications
The Organization will not contact your mobile phone number unless you have provided your mobile number to us and opted-in to receive mobile communications from the Organization. If you no longer wish to receive mobile communications from The Organization, you may opt out at any time by texting the word “STOP” in response to the text.
